This handkerchief is worked in red silk on linen, edged with gold lace. The picture below shows about a quarter of the handkerchief. Its overall size is about 30cm square.
The pattern is taken from the blackwork archives and is supposedly based on a period source, but I'm not sure exactly which source. It bears some resemblance to a handkerchief in Wingfield-Digby's "Elizabethan Embroidery".
