I find it difficult to find period-looking lace to use for embellishing clothing and other items, so at Pennsic in 2002 I finally bit the bullet and bought a bobbin lace starters kit.

The first usable lace I produced was from a pattern in the "teach yourself bobbin lace" book that I was using. It was a reasonably period-ish looking design, so I made a decent length of it and gave it to a friend for his birthday.

The finished lace is about 1.8cm (3/4") in diameter.
